iWeek 2009, South Africa’s premier conference and exhibition for the Internet industry, has already lined up an impressive roster of sponsors and exhibitors for the event, which will be held from 2-4 September 2009 at The Forum at the Dimension Data Campus in Bryanston. Leading tier-1 Internet service provider, MTN Business has come on board as the platinum sponsor, with converged communications network operator, Neotel as a gold sponsor, and firewall manufacturer, Global Technology Associates Inc, and alternative telecom operator Vox Telecom as joint silver sponsors.
Internet Solutions (IS) will be providing Internet connectivity for the event to ensure that delegates can stay in touch while they’re out of the office.
Exhibitors already confirmed for the exhibition include BITRATE, Mindset Learn, Miro Distribution, NetDay, Roaring Penguin Software, Switch Telecom and the Wireless Access Providers’ Association (WAPA).
This year marks the eighth year that the Internet Service Providers’ Association of South Africa (ISPA) and UniForum SA (the co.za administrators) have hosted the iWeek conference.
Representatives from service providers, vendors, network operators, telecom end-users, government, the ICT-focused legal fraternity and regulators will assemble at iWeek 2009 to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities emerging in the telecom arena. Says Lynne Orrock, ISPA Joint-Chair: “The backing of these heavyweights in the telecom industry reaffirms iWeek’s status and credibility as the most important conference and exhibition on the Internet industry’s annual calendar. The enthusiasm witnessed in the uptake of stands, speaking slots and sponsorship makes ISPA proud to be associated with iWeek 2009.”
The goal of the iWeek conference this year is to help the industry to accelerate its economic potential and to arm vendors and ISPs with the foreknowledge they need to capitalise on the rapid advancements driving the sector globally. The event will cover a range of topical issues this year including Interconnection (VoiP), data centres, spam, piracy and intellectual property, wireless Internet services, undersea cables, dark fibre, South African regulatory updates, marketing issues and entrepreneurship.
Speakers already confirmed for the conference this year include Peter Sunde, one of the founders of the Pirate Bay BitTorrent tracker site.
